Starbloom
"Raised on wandering and pocketfuls of finds." Pointed golden star petals. This is the form for pets who spent their days out on the trails.
Pimori lore
Every Pimori grows through five stages: Seedling, Sprout, Bud, Bloom and Radiant. Care earns sparks, sparks grow the sprout on its head, and at Radiant it becomes one of three forms, Starbloom, Moonpetal or Sunburst, depending on how the two of you spent your days.
If you only have a minute, here's how Pimori evolution works, straight from the game's rules:
Growth is measured in lifetime sparks. Each stage starts when the total you've ever earned passes its threshold. The "fastest" column assumes you hit the 40-spark daily cap every single day, which is a lot of care. It's a floor, not a target.
| Stage | Lifetime sparks | What you'll see on its head | Fastest possible |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Seedling | 0 | A small sprout with two round seedling leaves. This is how every Pimori hatches. | Day one |
| 2. Sprout | 40 | The sprout on its head grows taller. | Day one, if it's a very busy day |
| 3. Bud | 120 | A closed, teardrop-shaped bud on a short stem. | Day 3 |
| 4. Bloom | 280 | The bud opens into a flower. | Day 7 |
| 5. Radiant | 550 | A bigger, glowing flower with tiny sparkles around it, in the shape of its final form. | Day 14 |
Until Radiant, the flower on its head is the same soft pink for everyone. At Radiant it changes shape and color to match the form it grew into, so you'll know exactly what you raised the moment it happens.
Every Pimori begins as a spotted egg. Tap it three times and it wobbles, cracks and hatches. Right then its body color, called its bloom, is rolled. Most hatch in one of four everyday colors, and a lucky few hatch Aurora or Prism. That color stays for life and has nothing to do with evolution. (The full odds are in our Pimori blooms guide.)
After hatching you make three quick choices. You name it. You pick how it feels to you: Gentle, Curious or Playful. That temperament mostly shapes how it talks, and it plays one small backup role in evolution, which we'll get to. Then you give it its very first moment of care: a snack, a rest or a game. That first moment already counts toward its personality.
Sparks do two jobs at once. They're the money you spend on decor for your pet's room, and they're growth. Every spark you earn is added to a lifetime total that only ever goes up. Spending sparks in the shop lowers your wallet, never that total. Buy the telescope; the sprout doesn't care.
Here's what pays, and how much:
| What you do | Sparks | The fine print |
|---|---|---|
| Feed, tuck in or play with the toy | 2 | Only when that need was below 70%. Topping up a happy pet is still care, it just doesn't pay. |
| Play a quick game | 4 | The day's first game pays. If it's the day's featured game, add 2 more. |
| Meet the daily challenge | 5 | A small optional target on the featured game, once a day. |
| Fill the day's stamp card | 5 | A snack, some play and one extra thing, once a day. |
| Choose a moment | 5 | Quick two-choice scenes that turn up every day or so. |
| Bring home a find | 3 | From an expedition. A find you already own turns into 5 sparks instead. |
| Tend the garden | 3 | Once a day. |
| Chat with your pet | 3 | Once a day. |
| Say hi to a visitor | 4 | Visitors drop by on some days, not all. |
| Tidy the dust bunnies | 3 | Only if some moved in while you were away. |
| Receive a gift from a friend | 3 | Friends arrive with the public launch. |
| Check off a plan step | 3 | Each step pays once, the first time it's done. Celebrating a finished plan pays 10. |
| Complete a collection set | 20 | Six sets of finds in all. This bonus sits outside the daily cap. |
Everything except collection sets shares the daily cap of 40 sparks. The cap resets at midnight in your own time zone. Once you've hit it, care still makes your pet happy and still counts toward its personality, it just stops adding sparks until tomorrow.
It's simple arithmetic. Radiant needs 550 lifetime sparks, and you can earn at most 40 a day, so the quickest possible path is 14 days. Bud is at least 3 days in and Bloom at least 7.
Most people won't max out every day, and they shouldn't feel they have to. At a gentler 20 sparks a day, which is a few visits with a feed, a game and an expedition, Radiant arrives in about four weeks. At 10 a day it's closer to two months. There's no deadline and no penalty for going slowly.
A few things to know about the clock:
At Radiant, your Pimori's flower becomes one of three forms. Each comes with its own identity line, the one shown on the reveal card:
Starbloomthe explorer
Moonpetalthe tender one
Sunburstthe playmate"Raised on wandering and pocketfuls of finds." Pointed golden star petals. This is the form for pets who spent their days out on the trails.
"Raised on quiet care and late talks." Soft, round lilac petals around a pale center with a tiny crescent moon. For pets raised on snacks, naps, gardening and long chats.
"Raised on games and very loud giggles." Ten bright orange rays around a big center. For pets who never met a game they didn't like.
Its full name becomes the form plus the stage, so a Starbloom shows up as a Starbloom Radiant on its stage chip. Its bloom color doesn't change: a Rose Pimori that grows into a Sunburst is still rose all over, now with a sunburst on top.
Behind the scenes, your Pimori keeps a quiet tally of three personality traits: explorer, tender and playmate. The form at Radiant comes from whichever trait is strongest.
This is the part most people don't expect. Each trait goes up by at most one per day. Playing ten games on Tuesday counts the same as playing one. What matters is how many different days you showed up for each kind of care. So you can't cram a form in a weekend, and you don't need to. Just do what you enjoy, on the days you enjoy it.
Bringing home a find from an expedition. Picking the curious, adventurous answer in a moment.
Feeding it. Tucking it in for a nap or the night. Tending the garden. Chatting with it. Picking the cozy, gentle answer in a moment.
Playing any of the quick games. Playing with the toy. Picking the silly, playful answer in a moment.
One day can count for all three. Feed it in the morning, send it exploring at lunch and play a game after dinner, and every trait ticks up once. Your first moment of care at hatch counts too: a game nudges it toward playmate, a snack or a rest toward tender.
A trait needs at least three days before it counts as the strongest. If none has reached three yet, your temperament from hatch day breaks the tie: Curious leans Starbloom, Playful leans Sunburst and Gentle leans Moonpetal. Since Radiant takes at least two weeks, this backup rarely comes into play, but it's there.
There's no best form. It's a portrait of how you two spent your time. Curious which one fits you? Try the Which Pimori are you? quiz.
You can peek at the tally any time. The growth card in the app shows a bar for each trait, labeled Explorer, Quiet nurturer and Playful spirit, along with the one that's leading so far.
Every time the sprout reaches a new stage, the app stops for a full-screen celebration in your pet's bloom color. It says "EVOLUTION!" with the new stage name, five pips showing how far along you are, and a hint at what's next.
Radiant gets the big one. The banner reads "FINAL FORM UNLOCKED", the headline says "You raised a Starbloom" (or Moonpetal, or Sunburst), and the identity line appears underneath. There's a button to turn it into a share card, made for posting. Each new stage also gets its own line in "Our story" in the Our Book tab, so you can look back on when it happened.
If you use reduced motion, the reveal skips the spinning rays and the pop-in, and just shows you the result.
Alongside the sprout, there's a second, gentler kind of growth: your story together. Every day you do something that builds its personality counts as a shared day, and shared days move you through four chapters:
| Shared days | Chapter | What arrives |
|---|---|---|
| 0 | Just hatched | The window trail and garden path are open for expeditions. |
| 3 | Putting down roots | A keepsake frame for its room. |
| 5 | Putting down roots | The wildflower meadow opens. |
| 7 | Finding our rhythm | A soft rug for its room. |
| 10 | Finding our rhythm | The moonlit hill opens. |
| 14 | Right at home | A leafy garland for its room. |
Shared days are the one day count you'll see, with extra celebrations at 30 and 100. A missed day just pauses it. It never resets.
Pimori is built so that life getting busy never costs you progress. None of these slow or reverse growth:
And the most important one: a Pimori never dies. The worst that happens is a very pointed sulk. If you grew up with the old keychain pets, our Tamagotchi-style app guide explains what's different.
Tamagotchi is a trademark of Bandai. Pimori is an independent app and isn't affiliated with or endorsed by Bandai.
There are five: Seedling, Sprout, Bud, Bloom and Radiant. They start at 0, 40, 120, 280 and 550 lifetime sparks. At Radiant your Pimori becomes a Starbloom, a Moonpetal or a Sunburst.
At least 14 days, because you can earn up to 40 sparks a day and Radiant needs 550. At a relaxed pace of about 20 sparks a day it takes around four weeks.
By the kind of care you showed up for on the most days. Exploring leans Starbloom, feeding, naps, gardening and chatting lean Moonpetal, and games and play lean Sunburst. Each kind counts at most once per day.
No. Growth uses the lifetime total of sparks you've earned. Spending them on decor only lowers your wallet.
No. Growth only goes forward. Low needs, sulking and days away change its mood, never its stage.
No. Every bloom grows the same way. The flower on its head matches its form, and its body keeps its bloom color.
Pimori is in private beta on iOS, with Android to follow and no launch date yet.
